I’ve read everything Natasha Knight has written, so I’ve been looking forward to this one. And I’ll tell you what, Devil’s Bargain is phenomenal. I was up until 4 AM. I could not put it down until I finished the entire thing.
I loved that this story opened in Vegas with casino owner, Hawk, as the male lead. As a Las Vegas native, I liked the depictions of life on the strip. They rang true. And what a sexy backdrop for these two!
It never fails to amaze me how Knight comes up with characters’ backstories and scenarios. For instance, in their first meeting, Hawk summons Melissa over a debt her sister owes. And out of remorse, she takes that on (of course). So when he makes her a proposition, the anticipation is electric.
He makes me feel strange. Like he takes up the whole world when he’s in the room. Being this close to him is hard, harder than I like to admit. Everything about him from the way he looks to the way he speaks to the way he smells makes me want.
~Devil’s Bargain
Melissa’s dark backstory fit how she reacted when things went down between them. These raw and intense moments produced some of the most beautiful lines. You will cry.
Hawk’s family life, his brother drama (his novel is coming up next, right?), and how the second half of the story unfolds, was a great pull. From Vegas to Scotland, I loved where Hawk and Melissa took me. The adventure! I relished every glamorous, dark, and steamy detail.
Devil’s Bargain is not to be missed. 5 stars.
